A ,two,-,stage treatment, process using chalk (CaCO 3) and lime (CaO) is used. In the first ,stage,, the acidic ,waste water, is neutralized with chalk to pH 3.5 – 4.0 allowing a reaction time of 30 minutes with adequate agitation. More than 85% of fluoride can be precipitated as calcium fluoride, with marginal phosphate removal.
